Abstract
Against the backdrop of the New Liberal Arts initiative and the digital transformation of education, literature courses in higher education are confronting challenges such as insufficient emotional connection, cognitive mismatch, and limited development of critical thinking. Taking the course Introduction to English and American Literature as the practical field, this study explores feasible pathways for empowering personalized instruction with intelligent technologies such as large language models, based on the complementary relationship between the BOPPPS teaching model and the smart curriculum environment. Centering on three teaching cases — anonymous emotional interaction in the emotional dimension, the enhancement of cognitive dimensions resulting from the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures and AI-assisted critical thinking training in the thinking dimension — the study concretely demonstrates how the integrated design is implemented. Practical observations indicate that this approach helps lower the participation threshold of literature courses, broaden learning visions, and provides an effective lever for critical thinking training, offering reference value for the intelligent transformation of humanities courses in the digital age.
